Pace of Play Policy

Pace of Play Policy

Rule 6-7 of the 2016-17 USGA Rules of Golf states:

“The player must play without undue delay” and also provides the ability for the Committee (Iowa PGA Junior Tour) to set Pace of Play guidelines for a stipulated round, hole or shot. All players are expected to keep up with the group ahead of them. There should be no gaps on holes – group should be walking from fairway while group is preparing to hit from tee box. Players must be ready to hit when it is their turn and play ready golf when possible. Limit practice swings and pre-shot routine. Walk fast to each shot. Lead groups will be monitored for pace and expected to make the turn and finish based on course, yardage and pairings count. This info will be provided at each event site and posted on rules sheet. Groups will be warned when out of position. After second warning, group will be “on the clock” and penalized. A player is permitted 40 seconds to play a stroke and will be penalized one stroke after second warning.

Pace of Play Procedure:

Foursome- The first player to finish a hole will head to the next teeing ground. The second player to finish a hole will head to the next teeing ground. These two players will have the option to tee off or wait until the rest of the group arrives at the tee. The third player will be responsible for the flagstick after the fourth players putts out. Please do scores on the next teeing ground NOT on the green of the previous hole.

Threesome- The first player to finish a hole will head to the next teeing ground. The player then has the option to tee off or wait for the rest of their group. The second player to finish a hole will be responsible for the flagstick after the third player putts out. Please do scores on the next teeing ground NOT on the green of the previous hole.
